Alkynyl chemistry of platinum(II) has been widely explored, with special attention being paid to molecular rod oligomers and polymers.1 The main advantages of these materials are their rigid structure, linear geometry, delocalized π-system and the accessibility of the triplet excited state. These properties make them promising materials for molecular wires, LEDs, optical power limiters and solar cells.2
