Summary of merits:
Fabien Knoll, as holder of a scholarship from the Chancellery of Parisian Universities, obtained with highest honours a Ph.D. from the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. He was subsequently awarded research fellowships from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the Les Treilles Foundation, the JAE and Ramon y Cajal programmes of the Spanish Government, and the Marie Curie actions from the European Commission. He has worked for various museums and universities in France (Paris, Orléans), Germany (Stuttgart), Spain (Madrid), and the United Kingdom (Manchester, Bristol). He has published several dozens of articles in journals such as Nature, Nature Communications, Scientific Reports, and others. He is currently editor for PeerJ, Zookeys, and Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution and has served as expert for the Royal Society, German Research Foundation (DFG), Spanish State Research Agency (AEI), Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS), South African National Research Foundation (NRF), and other organisations. He has worked on a variety of research questions and has built a solid international reputation in the field of 'virtual paleontology', which is the computer-aided analysis of fossil form and function, and its application to archosaur palaeobiology. Over the past two decades, he has also gained extensive field experience by conducting numerous prospecting expeditions in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
