Drug discovery and development is a long and costly process that can take hundreds of millions of euros of investment and more than 15 years from the time a drug is identified in the lab to the moment it reaches the patient. These figure are not an option when it comes to neglected diseases, such as tuberculosis or buruli ulcer, for which there is little or none interests in developing new therapeutic interventions due to the established perception of low or null return on capital investment.

To overcome these limitations and speed up the development process we are applying two innovative concepts: drug repurposing and synergistic drug interactions. In this talk I will describe how we are implementing these concepts to bring much needed new therapies to the most in need.
