<p>This review examines the recent advances in the use of small organic molecules as catalysts in both the three component Strecker reaction and the hydrocyanation of imines. Selected issues of the mechanism of the processes depending on the catalyst as well as the advantage that results from the use of such organocatalysts are also presented and discussed.</p>
